eau de vie

Water from a pipe. Yay!
Filled up two jugs with water.
I sat and waited for them, made sure the water made it
Swatted flies, ants, gnats all thirsty waiting for the water
The birds walk around with their mouths open, hot
Everything is baked, even me
At the end of the day, I can feel the salt, evaporated perspiration on my skin.
Hot nights, hot wind, hot clouds, hot water from the pipes
water agua love water life water

these are the water tanks. the big white one goes to the house, the green one is for the garden, the small white one goes on the back of a truck and water is hauled in it to fill the big white one on the tower. before we got water in the tower, water was appropriated from various places with 5 gallon tanks. SO it's a big deal to have this much water!!!!!

desert scenes

here are some photos of the last couple of days. we've been avoiding the house because we were hit with a swarm of gnats. millions and millions and millions of gnats. sleeping and eating outside. I've been hanging out at the internet cafe where there's air conditioning and GELATO.

110?

well...110 degrees today, which meant a visit to the casa grande ruins, see photos above. I wish the canal system that the Hohokam made was still around. I passed a tempting irrigation ditch while in Mesa in search of their farmers market. Unfortunately, I didn't have anyone with me to pull me out in case the current took me. I'm sitting in the shade outside of my former hot spot doing the blog thing without any fresh produce.

Snoop dee oh double g and me are going to a wake tonight for an old guy in the community.

I've changed the options on the blog so that comments "from anyone" can be posted. I think you just click the underlined comments note and it will bring you to a place where you can post something.

getting things started

Here are some pretty photos of Oak Creek. Angel really is on vacation. We spent two days up north and swam on both of those days. I think I'm getting better at posting photos. Thought I'd put something pretty on here for a change. Will try to post more than one per entry this time around.

they call the wind mariah

the wind blew over the outhouse on Sunday. Ed sold the Cadillac Monday, Went to Sedona tuesday. Swim, swim, swimming. Came back on Wednesday. Making beans Thursday. Going to tuscon Friday. Who knows Saturday. Swimming on Sunday.

Making progress on the house. Ceiling fan working. used the microwave today. Found some tubing and am using it like a garden hose. As there is no running water, instead of carrying sloshing 5 gallon jugs of water to the plants, I put in the tube and did it the lazy way. I'm afraid I'll be doing much of the watering since this latest development. (oops, hope Ed doesn't see that one, ha!)

Soon, I'll be an expert blogger and perhaps my chronicles will be a little more literary.

Adios!
