on the road again

McFarland, WI, 9.19.05-- warm, windy, thunder and lightining last night. I'm on the road again this morning. This is where Trina lives. I've been here since last Monday, eating cheese and seeing the countryside. So much corn, so many farms, and a lot of antique shops. Take a look at the photos.
We went to a Cubs game at Wrigley field Saturday. Unfortunately, the Cubs lost to the Cardinals. Lots of red in the stands. It sounded like there were more Cardinal fans that Cubby fans. Of course, I went overboard at the souvenir shop.
On my way here from South Dakota I visited with Linda and Sarah. Friends from Terra Madre in October. Linda lives on Standing Rock reservation and Sarah is at White Earth in Minnesota. At Sarah's they had just started the rice harvest and I unexpectedly took part in the canoe races. It was fun (after we finished the race). While there we husked corn, canned tomatoes and Sarah canned some salsa. It was great. Angel got in a fight with Sarah's dog, Koya, over food of course. I suppose every road trip needs a little drama every once in a while. She's okay and eating as much as ever.
As I write this Angel is waiting patiently for me to finish so we can get going. Mom's friend, Sandy has inivited me to visit her in Indianapolis (!!!yay). Then I'm off, finally, to Roswell Georgia, where I will harrass people until they get tired of me and send me back to California.

Brodhead, WI. Go here to find antiques. Trina and I spent almost a whole day shopping and looking at knick knacks. There's some great stuff at a great price. I'll need to bring a truck the next time. This is the town that Trina's mom is from. Very quite and nice. Posted by Picasa

ramkota baby

Staying in a Best Western in Rapid City tonight, Ramkota! Angel and I have a little balcony to see the sunset and the freeway. We left Cheyenne at noon today. I took a lot of pictures of the homes there. I was tempted to go to the Wrangler super store by the train depot. Hmmm, maybe I can hit it on the way back.

We arrived at Mt. Rushmore around 5:30 pm (no dogs allowed). I'm amazed Cary Grant and Eve St. Marie made it all the way up there. I took a photo of the dining room, because I think that made it into the move (North by Northwest). Anyway, I bought a sticker to put on my gigantic suitcase. The gift shop was very much like the ones in Yosemite.

I'm sitting in the lobby doing my thing and I can hear people getting excited in the casino. Most of them sound like they've been drinking. They're having fun though. It's a pretty busy place, big restaurant, bar, casino and several large meeting rooms. Everything has a buffalo motif-- the earthenware plates on the mantel in the lobby, the mosaic on the floor in the lobby, the prints on the walls, the placemat on the table, you get the picure. My shower curtain has cowboys ridin' the range. I think I'm getting tired. Not feeling too pizzazzy. I guess it's TV time! I keep forgetting to watch TV. Is there anything good on on Wednesdays?

Woohoo! Someone just won big. Nightie nite, sweet dreams, don't let the bed bugs bite....Dominique and Angel

home in rapid city, 7pm, 78 degrees. I'm going to explore the downtown tomorrow. It's pretty industrial at the crib. Posted by Picasa

I mailed a letter from this town. There is only one paved road. The houses face out onto the llano. Nice place and nice people (I met two!) Posted by Picasa
