Happy Mother's Day : )
Well, well, well, here I am at Stabuck's (ack!). I just posted some photos from the weekend in Bordeaux/St. Emilion. I'm waiting for Tse to send me a rather attractive photo of myself after running 2 km in a tornadoesque rain storm to the train station. We dallied at the wine shop and got stuck in driving rain, wind, and hail. It was fun, but it was like we were all dumped into a swimming pool we were so wet. Then how fun was that getting on to the drain soaking wet. Strangely, one of my shoes had soap suds foaming out of it. I crack up every time I think of that.
Next week is the last week of the Basic level at Cordon Bleu! We will be tested on filleting a fish, our chopping and slicing and seasoning, etc. in cuisine and I'm afraid in pastry we'll have to make a chocolate cake (which involves LOTS of whisking) or millefueille pastry. I'll be sure to take a pictuure and post it. I've been pretty lazy about taking my camera to school and posting photos of what I've made.
We had a "party" last night to practice on our fish. We each did three, then cooked them, made mashed potatoes with the potatoes that we turned and had a lot of wine. Was fun and yummy. Feeling a little emotionally fragile this morning, you know, a teeny bit hungover.
Mom sent me an e-mail and I guess EVERYONE is going to Camp Taylor at Mt. Tam for a mother's day picnic without me : ( Stefano will be there. I miss my boy....sniffle sniffle....
Trina writes and she'll be here in Sept for a week. That will be fun. Maybe we could go to St. Emilion!
Had a happy birthday, having a teary mother's day. I think I'll go to the park and lose myself in staring at the water in the fountains. Was going to go to the Louvre one of these days, but I'm waiting for Lisa to get here so we can go at the height of tourist season and hot muggy heat to wait in line under the IMPei pyramid heat magnifying element. Okay. Gonna see if I can post that picture now. CIAO!
