YAY!

Yay!!!!!!! Forza Azzuri!! So happy and relieved at Italy's win in the world cup. Whew! Glad it's over, but it's over.

Oui, and Zidane. What in the hell happened? Actually, he is anything but out of control as I hear is being reported in he US media. They love him here. His nickname Zizou and is known as the Magician...and that was his last game. The announcers were practically crying when he head butted that guy, but "he's only a man." He is in a lot of TV ads and when he came on the screen, the crowd sang their Zizou songs. The canadian bar we started out in became a hot, sticky, sweaty, noisy, overcrowded and smoky place. I walked home at half time and had the pleasure of seeing Paris with no cars in the streets. The sun was setting, the weather balmy and there only people out were a few couples kissing on the quai.

But really, even if the Italians kept falling, they at least scored a goal. What a nerve wracking game!

I genuinely felt bad for the tricolor caped, face painted sad French people. They're mostly shocked about losing. Very quiet, but they're coming out of it and we have Bastille day to look forward to. I may try to brave the crowds on the champs d'elysees to see the parade.

I will start toting my camera around again. I took a picture of an ad with Boris Diaw (french phoenix suns player), but I missed getting a photo of the really big ad in the metro. Concorde is plastered in a Disneyland ad this week.

I'm finally reading the Julia Child book, My Life in France. I'm enjoying it. She's at the Cordon Bleu now. It sounds like a much quieter Paris in those days, at least not as many tourists. I am avoiding going anywhere on the weekends because it is becoming rather crowded. Going to venture out tomorrow in search of an old fashioned cremerie. also going to the market near place bastille. there's a pretty blouse I have my eye on. ciao for now! D
