This is Tour Massane...to which I hiked : ) It's use was as a signal tower when this part of France was Spain. The signal, fire at night, smoke in the day, could be seen in Perpignan. There is a series of these towers...just like in Lord of the Rings eh? Pretty super cool. It's about 700 years old. It took me 3 hours to hike up here from Chateau de Valmy. I was amazed when I looked back up from town at how far I had gone.
